WEEK 1

·         Listening for main ideas & specific details
Listening to compare
 e.g. sharing with each other the cultural practices of one’s family or society

·         Ice- breaking activities
·         Discussing learning styles

WEEK 2

·         Making generalization
·         Scanning and finding meaning from context
·         Developing a paragraph from a topic sentence
·         Listening for  a specific details and identifying stages in spoken explanation
·         Group dynamics( turn-taking, interrupting, expressing opinions)
* Language support – parts of speech, simple past& past perfect tenses and used to)

WEEK 3

·         Reading using inference
-          predicting and finding meaning from context
·         Writing an expository/ explanation essay (thesis statement/ preview and topic sentence/ theme)
·         Listening in order to predict and take notes
·         Expressing opinions and seeking clarification
              *Language support- passive, conditional, simple present and present   
                continuous tense)

WEEK 4

  • Recognizing an issue in an argument& views ‘for’ and ‘against’
-          locating definitions in context, topic sentence and details
               Outlining/ Staging
  • Writing and argumentative essay
  • Listening for main ideas and supporting details
  • Expressing opinions using signposts in talking about issues
* Language support- (gerunds & infinitives)

MID- SEMESTER BREAK

  • Identifying main ideas & supporting details
  • Summarizing and paraphrasing
  • Selecting a topic
  •   Library search
  •  Writing a tentative thesis statement
  •  Listening for specific information& note taking
  • Language support (Use of ‘will’ & conditionals)

WEEK 6

  • Reading & understanding a given text

   Preparing outline incorporating information from reading texts
         Language support (Future forms, modality & Simple Present tense)

WEEK 7
